About
Suspended Harmony is a joint collaboration of Birdhaus and the Suspended Harmony Collective.
Our event is hosted at Birdhaus, an avant-garde event space co-founded by an Aerialist and Shibari artist.
Suspended Harmony is run bi-monthly, on the last Sunday of every other month.
Our event couples live music alongside shibari performances. Previous events have featured electronic soundscapes, electric violin, electric cello, piano and looping artists. We’re fortunate to have included Juno nominated performers and international shibari sensations.
At Suspended Harmony, you can go on a journey of beauty and music beyond the bounds of the ordinary. This unique performance event of shibari artists, models and live musicians delights the senses.
Shibari
After the performances, the space will open to Toronto’s shibari community so they can indulge in their passion during this electrifying night. Energetic beats and great drinks will continue to flow throughout the night and everyone is welcome to stay.
Shibari is a Japanese art form with a complex history stretching back hundreds of years.
In a beautiful display of trust and vulnerability a rope artist works with a model, often suspending them in mid-air, blending rope techniques and the human body’s natural landscape to create stunning shapes that challenge us to see human form in bold new ways.
